The only two people during that time to touch the truck are him, myself, and our detailer. I would venture to say that if I can't answer a question about the condition of this Rover that nobody can. UPDATE- please take note that after most of the photos of the vehicle were taken the missing "V8" badge from the left front fender has been replaced with a new Genuine Land Rover part and the factory installed front mudflaps have been removed. Of course those items (which are in excellent condition as well) are being included with the sale. The asking price has also been reduced significantly. This 1995 Defender 90 "Station Wagon" (hard top) is in excellent condition and has only had two owners since new, the first in Virginia and the second (current) owner in North Carolina. It has been driven 170,000 miles which is less than 7,000 miles per year.
Please note it does still get driven occasionally and the mileage will increase. Judging by the condition, the original owner also took very very good care of the vehicle. The only accident on the vehicle history report is a minor left front impact from August 2012, upon close inspection it seems the left front fender was replaced but there are no other signs of any accidents. The paint is glossy and not dull but does show some scratches, wear, and minor dings from being 25 years old. Overall for a Defender of this age the paint is in very nice condition. The chassis is completely original and rust free and to preserve that it was fully cleaned and rust proofed with high quality paint and undercoating materials in 2016. Likewise, there is no rust on the bulkhead or on the bottom channels of the doors. The seat box compartments are clean and solid. The front floor panels show a small amount of light surface rust where they meet the bulkhead but are in very good shape. All window glass is clear and not chipped or cracked and the door windows and side sliding windows work as they should with no issues. This Defender does have the dealer-installed Air Conditioning system and it is functional.
Also, an aftermarket stereo system has been installed with an Alpine head unit, Alpine amplifier, and FOCAL speakers. The four rear side-facing jump seats with seat belts are all still in place and function properly. The front seats were replaced by the original owner with aftermarket leather seats from Exmoor Trim. The manually operated sunroof, windows, and door locks all operate perfectly. The Defender has been regularly maintained, receiving oil and filter changes at least every 3,000 miles and usually much sooner than 3,000 miles. Tire rotations performed at every other oil service. There are no oil or coolant leaks, although there is a slight (very slight) amount of seepage at the transfer case. Any mechanical issues have been fixed promptly and many many preventative services have been done to keep the vehicle running reliably well into the future. It starts right up, idles quietly, rides smoothly down the road and shifts through the gears without issue. It truly is in excellent condition and a prime example of a well loved collector vehicle. This vehicle is located in Clayton, North Carolina, USA. Well the answer is YES. Set aside the possible issues of comfort and fuel costs and I would not hesitate to drive the vehicle anywhere in the country as it sit right this second. It is in rock-solid mechanical condition. Any mechanical issues have been fixed promptly and many many preventative services have been done to keep the vehicle running reliabily well into the future.
